New Year

Welcome back...to me from my blog.

These past few months have been some of the busiest, most challenging, and most entertaining of my life, but instead of recapping all of that for you, I'm just going to look forward.

Last night I went out for the first New Year's Eve...ever, I think.  I tend to think of holidays out as overrated and disappointing (because experience says that I'm right), but was talked into breaking out my sparkly 23rd birthday dress (where have the years gone) and tearing it up with two of my good work friends.

After an evening of people stepping on balloons, drinks being spilled on coats, and one guy friend completely disappearing, I have to say that last night was a success.  I decided it was a fun way to kick off a new year and say goodbye to one that really sent me on a roller coaster of emotions...or is it glass box of emotion?

This year is going to be better, because everyone on Facebook says it, so it must be true.  What the people on Facebook haven't told you is that this is going to be the year where (oh no, here come the resolutions)...

  • I create and maintain a workout routine that lasts past June.  I'm thinking that I'll shoot for a 10k by April...maybe May.
  • I make at least two trips to the cities, hopefully more, and hit up either a Timberwolves, Twins, or Viking game.  Maybe a concert, too.
  • I make it out to Bismarck to visit one of my best friends and her husband.
  • I make it out to Raub to visit my other best friend and her husband, and their dogs!
  • I start writing again.  I'm going to say it, because resolutions are supposed to be those scary, big dream things; this year, I will write/finish a book.
  • Wow, did I just really say I'm going to write a book or finish one I've been writing?
  • I make work my...has this blog ever pretended to be family friendly?...bitch.  I'm going to tear it up at my job and with my management program.
  • I make more time for family.  I'd like to have personal time with every member of my family at least once a month.
  • I go to church at least twelve times.  Once a month should not be that difficult.
  • I make more time for friends.  I've been working of saying "yes" when the socially awkward part of me wants to scream "no."  I was doing a pretty good job of this, but I've really fallen back on older friends who I know are comfortable...if that makes any sense whatsoever.  This past month has been especially hard as I've been struggling with the season and the only time I seem to get out is when a friend texts me that they're on their way to get me...which is what happened last night.
  • I thrift more!  Boom baby!  I love me some vintage Pyrex and that's all I want to buy/collect these days.
I think that's about all I've got for now.  I wish you and yours a happy new year.  Happy Birthday, 2013!

One more resolution that my friend Karl made for us as a collective: Keep It Classy.  We're no longer peeing outdoors, getting embarrassing at the bars, or saying comments that make even the most laid back people uncomfortable.  Keep It Classy.  It needs all capital letters.
