Thrifty Weekend

This weekend I kind of made out like a bandit at the thrift stores in town.  I had one project in my mind, so I set out looking for materials to make this bag from over at A Beautiful Mess.

I found a woven blanket that matched this one almost to a t!  At the same thrift store, I found this blanket/tapestry thing and decided I'd rather make a bag out of it.

Have to love the fact that Bebo, my parent's dog, felt the need to sit and pose.  Now, I'm thinking purse, but I also found this skirt, so I'm trying to decide what to make with the blankestry (see what I did there?  combining the two words, like a boss).

I picked up this belt to use as one of the straps.  Now I just need to find another cool belt for the other strap (if I do, in fact, make the purse/overnight bag).

Bebo modeling the belt.

The belt and the blankestry.

Perhaps my favorite find was this gem.  I love the colors and the flower and the overall retro feel.  Not quite sure what I'm going to put in it, but that's really the least of my worries.

A couple of the mason jars the I picked up.  I have a couple of crafty projects in mind for these babies.

Vase.  Can you spot Bebo in this picture?

Another cool find was my vintage ashtray.  I'm thinking of using it for rings or bobby pins.

My last find was these potholders,

which I'm going to collect until I have enough to make this rug.

So this is how I spent the majority of my first free weekend in a month or two...thrifting and wasting time on the internet finding more craft projects to suck up my time :)
